NIST PQC Standards Crypto — FIPS 203 204 205 Guide

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) finalized three post-quantum cryptography standards in 2024 after an eight-year evaluation process involving submissions from cryptographers worldwide.

FIPS 203: CRYSTALS-Kyber

A Key Encapsulation Mechanism (KEM) for secure key exchange between parties. Selected for its strong security properties and excellent performance.

FIPS 204: CRYSTALS-Dilithium

A digital signature algorithm designed for high security and relatively small signature sizes. This is BMIC's primary transaction signing algorithm.

FIPS 205: SPHINCS+

A stateless hash-based signature scheme that relies only on the security of hash functions—making it a conservative, well-understood choice for cold storage.

BMIC is one of the only presale-stage crypto projects implementing all three standards. This positions it as a first-mover in post-quantum blockchain infrastructure.
